I never expected that there would ever be places in Vilnius where I would feel like a foreign body. New hotels, offices and residential buildings are being built on the former “Žalgiris” stadium. I am standing next to a newly opened office, in such a strange spot where not a single recognizable place can be seen – neither the sports palace, nor Šnipiškės neighborhood, nor the park. I have no memories there; I am not attached to anything. This is not Vilnius, this is not London or Berlin. This is all cities and no cities all together.

Her experiment is about human senses and the relationship with newly formed spaces in the city. The initial questions of the project are – how does the body function there, among fresh, unworn spaces, how does it survive there? What is the human interaction with the aesthetic properties of contemporary architecture – smooth surfaces, (conditional) sterility, the materiality of spaces (glass, concrete, stone, etc.). The author intends to seek answers by using the intervention of sculptural, fragile, decaying, unaesthetic, organic material objects in the newly built spaces. This confrontation will aim to irritate the gaze and senses of people working or living there. In addition to questions about human senses and feelings, the experiment will reflect on what would happen to a recently built, polished, aesthetic space if an unattractive, uncomfortable, decaying object appeared there. Could such an intervention in dimly aesthetic spaces revive them? The work will be fragile, vulnerable, and dependent on environmental conditions. The long-term preservation of the work is deliberately abandoned; the author is intrigued by its independence and the friction between existence and disappearance.
