Ministry of Future Urban–rural Affairs

Author: Edgar Vladimirenko

Edgar Vladimirenko’s project ‘Ministry of Future Urban–rural Affairs’ invites to explore the impact of changes in urban development and agricultural policy on the transformation of rural settlements. The research focuses on the village of Dainava in Lithuania, created as an experiment in collectivisation during the Soviet era, and on Goussainville, a French town near Paris that has today become a symbol of neglect and noise pollution due to the nearby Charles de Gaulle airport.

Using future scenario-building techniques, Vladimirenko offers visions of how rural communities could adopt new forms of sustainability and self-reliance. He explores how these communities can play a more active role in shaping the future of their territories by combining urban planning, local insights, and future scenarios.
